I began working in recording studios at 18 in Boston, and by 20 was a full-time recording engineer. In 1999, I moved to Seattle after graduating from Berklee and joined Bear Creek Studio, where I spent a few years learning from amazing producers like Terry Date, Phil Ek, and Joe Chicarelli while working with artists like Built to Spill, Blonde Redhead and the Deftones. By 2003, I co-founded Chroma Sound in Seattle, a laid-back studio housed in a repurposed paint factory that became a local fixture until we had to close up shop in 2009. After relocating to Nashville, I built my third studio, this time entirely my own, in a small detached building behind my house. It's a great space for mixing, overdubs, and writing. Having learned on large format consoles and tape machines, I've adapted those techniques to the modern digital tools while trying to hang on to as much of the analog spirit as I can. Lately I've also been exploring how video and interactive media art as a logical extension of my work.
